The UK and Germany are spearheading a 50-day campaign to rapidly increase military aid to Ukraine, following former US President Donald Trump’s ultimatum giving Russia 50 days to end the war or face harsher consequences. At a high-level online meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (Ramstein format), 52 countries discussed new pledges, including air defense systems, artillery shells, and drones. The UK announced £700 million in new aid, while both the UK and Germany will jointly supply 220,000 Gepard anti-aircraft shells. The initiative aims to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin into negotiations by strengthening Ukraine’s defenses. This coordinated Western effort reflects growing urgency as Russia intensifies attacks and NATO allies seek unity on Ukraine strategy.
